Celestial Equator

The celestial equator is an imaginary great circle on the celestial sphere that sits directly above the Earth's equator. You can think of it as a projection of the Earth's own equator out into space. If you were standing on the Earth's equator and looked straight up, the line passing directly over your head from East to West would be the celestial equator.
